North Attleborough Warns of Overnight I-95 Ramp Closures at Exits 6, 7

NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH — Drivers heading through North Attleborough should plan for overnight ramp closures on Interstate 95 at Exits 6 and 7 starting Thursday night, Aug. 20, as the Massachusetts Department of Transportation tests a new system designed to catch wrong-way drivers before they cause a crash.

TOWN HALL The town's official News Flash feed alerted residents Wednesday that MassDOT will close the Exit 6 and Exit 7 ramps on I-95 overnight beginning Thursday to conduct testing of its Wrong-Way Vehicle Detection System. The alert did not specify how many nights the closures will run or give a date when normal access will resume, so drivers who use those interchanges after dark should expect delays or detours in the coming days.

COMING UP Several town boards meet this week and next. On Thursday, Aug. 20, the School Building Committee, the Zoning Board of Appeals and the North Attleborough Housing Authority each hold public meetings. The following week, on Monday, Aug. 24, the Board of Assessors, the Licensing Board and the Town Council are all scheduled to meet.
