North Attleborough Health Department Warns of Aug. 28 Kratom Ban
NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH — The North Attleborough Health Department is advising residents and local retailers that the sale of kratom products will be prohibited statewide starting Aug. 28, under a new emergency order issued by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
TOWN HALL
The Health Department's notice, posted Aug. 18, tells retailers to prepare for the statewide ban and directs residents with questions to the department directly. The order comes from the state's Department of Public Health rather than town government, but North Attleborough officials are handling local outreach to shops that currently carry kratom, an herbal supplement, ahead of the Aug. 28 effective date.
COMING UP
North Attleborough's civic calendar is busy over the next week. The School Building Committee, the Zoning Board of Appeals and the North Attleborough Housing Authority all meet Thursday, Aug. 20. The Board of Assessors and the Town Council both hold public meetings Monday, Aug. 24, followed by the Conservation Commission on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
