NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH -- June 16, 2026, North Attleborough Conservation Commission closes gas station wetland hearing and rejects fire-rebuild emergency bid. The commission voted unanimously June 16 to close the public hearing on a Notice of Intent for 563 South Washington Street, where Royalty Corporation proposes to install underground storage tanks at a former gas station involving 543 square feet of permanent wetland disturbance offset by an equal area of replication, within a watershed draining to Hopping Hill Reservoir and a connected drinking water supply. Commissioner Jessica Tenzar raised contamination concerns after the applicant declined to release a completed Phase 2 environmental assessment, calling it proprietary; the commission negotiated new special conditions requiring dewatering effluent be held in a frac tank and tested before discharge, a licensed site professional present during excavation, and lab results provided to the commission. The board also declined to grant emergency certification to homeowners Joshua and Cherie Jensen, whose Wendy Drive home was destroyed by fire in February, with Chair Kimberly Cherimickley reading directly from 310 CMR 10.06 and noting that no Commonwealth agency had ordered the project and that the 30-day completion window was not feasible given the proposed expansion of the home's footprint.
