North Attleborough Board of Health Reorganizes, Approves Three Business Permits

NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH — July 14, 2026 — North Attleborough's Board of Health reorganized for fiscal year 2026 and approved three business permits at its July 14 meeting. Members Dan McMahon and Averie Baker voted 2-0 to re-appoint Jonathan Maslin as chairman before granting a body art practitioner license and anatomy-and-physiology-course variance to Sadie Rendeau of Corsetland Modified at 999 St. Bonham Street, a residential kitchen permit to chef and vending operator Steven Long of Long Vents at 32 White Oak Way to sell house-made whoopie pies through vending machines in Franklin, and a food service permit transfer for Showcase Cinema at 840 Star Washington Street into HLE Target Co. LLC ahead of the cinema's pending sale to Canopolis. Director Ann Marie Vierra reported that the town's new chicken-keeping bylaw generated immediate walk-in traffic at the health department, which had no permitting workflow in place — "we were missing a piece here" — and that at least one complaint has already been filed alleging a coop sits only 12 feet from a property line, below the 15-foot minimum setback required by the bylaw.
