Town Council transfers $5.3 million to capital stabilization fund

NORTH ATTLEBORO — Town Council transfers $5.3M to capital stabilization fund in FY26 move. President Justin Paré and all eight council members unanimously approved moving $5,317,073 in certified free cash into the Capital Stabilization Account, which earns 4.5 percent interest and requires separate votes to deploy funds. Vice President Keith Lapointe moved Measure 2026-040, which the Finance Sub-Committee backed 6-0 on December 3, 2025.
The Council also unanimously passed Measure 2026-045, authorizing a $50,000 transfer from reserves to cover legal expenses totaling $54,667, including $45,570 for the Town vs. Brady litigation. Three zoning and bylaw measures remain in subcommittee, with second readings and votes slated for February 4 and 9, 2026.
