Town Council backs Multi-Use Overlay zoning amendments with flexibility framework

North Attleborough Town Council's Bylaw Sub-Committee unanimously continued Measure 2026-046, a Multi-Use Overlay zoning amendment, pending further review and a full Council vote in May. Town Manager Michael Borg presented three core elements: updated development standards distinguishing required from preferred criteria, waiver provisions for unique lots, and affordable housing requirements staying in place until the town achieves state safe-harbor status, then becoming flexible case-by-case decisions. Planning Board Chair Jason Gittle noted the five designated MXO zones represent the town's best development locations and flagged that affordable housing mandates apply to projects of 10 units or more.
