Town Council approves zoning overlay districts for economic development.
Town Council FY26 · Meeting of May 11, 2026
NORTH ATTLEBORO — Town Council backs multi-use overlay zoning for five commercial districts. The council voted unanimously to establish Multi-Use Overlay Districts (MXO) on Route 1 north and south, downtown, the mall, and Kelley Boulevard, each subject to Planning Board special permits. Town Planner Gil Hilario and Town Manager Michael Borg said the town will market the framework on its website to attract high-value commercial development.
The council also unanimously approved a $12,140 transfer from FY26 Free Cash to purchase two historic downtown gateway signs from Almark Signs and Graphics, Inc. Four other fiscal measures, including a $65,000 appropriation for board member compensation and snow-and-ice deficit funding, were referred to the Finance Sub-Committee.
