Town Council approves FY27 budget with no cuts, no overrides, no layoffs

North Attleborough Town Council unanimously approves FY27 spending plan with no cuts. Vice President Keith Lapointe moved 21 budget and capital measures that passed 9-0, including a $4.44 million general fund capital program, $18.292 million in water projects, and $5.825 million in sewer infrastructure work, with a $4 million sludge thickening system upgrade representing the largest single sewer project. Councilor John Simmons reported the budget included no layoffs, no overrides, and no department reductions, with special education noted as a continuing major budget pressure.
The council also authorized Town Manager Michael Borg to finalize participation in the Massachusetts Group Insurance Commission effective January 1, 2027, concluding months of negotiations with the North Attleborough Public Employee Committee.
