North Attleborough Health Department Warns Retailers of Statewide Kratom Ban

DATELINE — NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH

The North Attleborough Health Department is advising residents and local retailers that kratom products are now barred from sale statewide, after the Massachusetts Department of Public Health issued an emergency order prohibiting the substance beginning Aug. 28.

TOWN HALL

The Health Department's advisory tells local retailers that continuing to sell kratom products could put them out of compliance with the new state order, and urges residents to be aware of the restriction. The town has not detailed local enforcement steps beyond flagging the statewide rule.

The town also continues to point residents to the North Attleborough Opioid Task Force's progress report, an update to the settlement fund spending story the News Flash covered earlier this week, which outlines how opioid settlement dollars are being invested locally.

COMING UP

The Board of Assessors holds a public meeting Monday, Aug. 31, according to the town's online calendar.
