North Attleborough Health Department Warns of Kratom Sales Ban Aug. 28

NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH — North Attleborough's Health Department is warning residents and retailers that kratom products will be prohibited from sale statewide starting Aug. 28, under a new emergency order from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

The Health Department this week advised residents and local retailers that the sale of kratom products will be banned across Massachusetts beginning Friday, Aug. 28, under an emergency order issued by the state Department of Public Health. The advisory directs North Attleborough retailers who currently carry kratom, a plant-derived supplement marketed for pain relief and mood effects, to prepare to pull the products from shelves ahead of the deadline.

North Attleborough boards have a full slate of public meetings this week. The Conservation Commission meets Tuesday, Aug. 25. The Finance Sub-Committee and the Board of Public Works both meet Wednesday, Aug. 26. On Thursday, Aug. 27, the Retirement Board, the North Attleborough Electric Board of Commissioners and the Planning Board are all scheduled to convene.
