Falls, Whitings Ponds Reopen to Swimmers After Bacteria Closure

Falls Pond and Whitings Pond are open to swimmers again after the town's Health Department confirmed Tuesday that bacteria levels have returned to safe levels, lifting a closure that had kept the two popular spots off limits.

TOWN HALL

The Health Department reported that testing now shows bacteria levels at both Falls and Whitings ponds have dropped back within safe range, allowing the town to reopen both sites to swimmers effective immediately. The reopening ends a closure that had been in place after elevated bacteria readings prompted officials to shut both ponds down earlier this month. No other Town Hall announcements were issued in the past day.
