Council on Aging approves December minutes; director reports 15-20 new registrations

NORTH ATTLEBORO — Council on Aging approves December minutes and hears director report. Director Karen Testa reported approximately 15 to 20 new registrations this month, many of whom are planning to use the center after the move to 451 Elm Street. The council received statistical reports from nutrition, programs, and outreach staff.
The move is pending a certificate of occupancy, with Town Manager Borg targeting March 2026. Because rent was not budgeted for fiscal year 2026, the delayed move has created a shortfall Testa is working to resolve. The Friends of the Council on Aging elected new officers in December: President Karen Dietzel, Vice President Helen Gauthier, Secretary Sandra Legg-Forgiel, and Treasurer Shirley Tucson.
Testa is recommending a twenty-dollar annual non-resident membership fee and will use Formula Funding to cover the twelve thousand five hundred dollar cost of IT infrastructure for a satellite classroom at the new location.
