Conservation Commission Continues Turtlebrook Road Grading Case, Seeks Stormwater Data

NORTH ATTLEBORO — March 22, 2022 — North Attleborough Conservation Commission delays ruling on Turtlebrook Road grading plan, citing lake runoff concerns. The commission voted unanimously to continue the 13 Turtlebrook Road matter to its April 12 meeting after engineer Daniel Campbell of Level Design Group presented a grading scheme featuring a foot-and-a-half-tall berm along the rear of the property; two commissioners said they wanted stormwater calculations before voting, including projections for first-flush pollutant loading and a 100-year storm event. Mary Waltuck of Friends of Lake Maira Sheet testified that fertilizers and chemicals from the lawn "are going to head that way" toward the lake. Commission staff said the plan, with the silt fence sitting 57.6 feet from the wetland boundary, could conditionally meet Wetlands Protection Act requirements, but left the call to the board. The commission also unanimously approved a replication planting plan for 38 Walnut Street conditioned on post-construction inspection, issued certificates of compliance for two properties, and authorized a survey contract with Level Design Group to advance a public trail easement along Haines Road that would unlock roughly 65 acres of conservation land on the town's west side.
